Kidizoom Pro Review - How does it differ to the standard camera

The Kidizoom Pro is much more advanced version of the Kidizoom camera. For example, rather than the 0.3 megapixel quality you get on the standard camera, the Pro version comes with a massive 2 megapixel camera - the same as on most current mobile phones (including the iPhone).

This means you get a true, near-perfect photo quality. In addition the Pro also comes complete with a 2x zoom lens enabling your child to zoom in closer to their subject. You get more memory on the Kidizoom Pro too, 256MB to be exact which is enough for up to 500 photos. This memory can also be expanded up to 16GB with an additional memory card.

The Kidizoom Pro is so tough even you will struggle to break it!

The great thing about the Kidizoom Pro is that although the features and quality of the camera are even better than the standard one, the manufacturers have not comprimised on the toughness and durability of the Kidizoom Pro.

When I did my Kidizoom Pro review I was half expecting to find that the Pro version was not as strong. I thought they may have sacrificed the toughness to get the extra features in, especially as the camera is designed for the slightly older age group of 5+ years.

Thankfully I was wrong and I think you will be surprised by how well built this camera is. It is certainly not a toy that will be easily broken - no matter how hard your child tries!

More games and even the abaility to play MP3 music tracks

Whereas the standard Kidizoom offers great fun with the photo capture and editing plus the inbuilt games, the Kidizoom Pro takes things another step forward.

Instead of just getting 3 inbuilt games you get 5 on the Pro version. In addition, and I really like this feature, the Kidizoom Pro has an inbuilt MP3 player.

This means not only is it a camera and a mini games console, it is also a portable music player. This really adds to the entertainment and longetivity of the toy and will ensure you child is kept occupied way in to next year.

What are the negatives of the Kidizoom Pro?

Well, several of the negatives of the standard Kidizoom camera have disappeared on the Pro version. For example the low memory is no longer an issue as you can store up to 500 photos on the inbuilt 256MB memory card, plus the memory is expandable up to a massive 16GB!

Secondly the picture quality is so much better as rather than the 0.3 megapixels you get with the standard camera you get a huge 2 megapixel on the Pro version.

Finally even the zoom lens has been solved. Whereas the standard camera lacks this particular function, the Kidizoom Pro has an impressive 2x optical zoom lens give your child more fun and the ability to take much better photos.

Therefore the only real negative that still exists on the Kidizoom Pro is that as with all digital camera, batteries are required. The Kidizoom Pro uses 4xAA batteries so make sure you stock up in time for Christmas!

Summary - A great camera with unbeatable additional features

Overall I do not think you will find many better toys to buy for your child this year. My Kidizoom Pro review has shown that this is more than just a childs toy.

This is a real digital camera with a superb quality that even us adults did not have a few a years ago. The quality of the photo is as good as most of the mobile phone cameras currently on the market. The memory is plenty and can easily be expanded to similar levels of the adult digital cameras.

The games add another dimension to the product and the inbuilt MP3 player rounds it all off as an all-in-one toy that will entertain and educate with ease.

It is no surprise that this is tipped to be one of the biggest sellers this Christmas and there will be a lot of very happy childen practicing to become the next David Attenborough next year!
